About The Position

The Energy Marshal at Rogers-O'Brien Construction plays a vital role in ensuring safety and quality assurance during the construction and commissioning of data centers. This position is fundamentally responsible for managing Energy Isolation Management and Electrical Safety Programs, focusing on the thorough planning, approval, and auditing of activities to control the presence of capacity during various stages such as testing, energization, de-energization, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. As a key figure within the general contractor's team, the Energy Marshal assures that energy isolation safety programs are consistently maintained across projects. The role involves implementing lessons learned and overseeing compliance with the Energy Isolation Plan, thereby safeguarding personnel and equipment from electrical and other energy hazards.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the LOTO process to ensure safe energy isolation
  • NFPA-70E certification to comply with electrical safety standards
  • OSHA-30 certification to understand and implement workplace safety regulations
  • Proficiency in interpreting online drawings and system designs to prevent hazards
  • Competency in Word, Excel, Smartsheet, and PowerPoint for effective documentation and communication
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems to manage site safety plans
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively coordinate with diverse teams

Responsibilities

  • Establish, manage, and audit the site’s Energy Isolation Program overseeing electrical, mechanical, and fire sprinkler plans
  • Conduct weekly field audits and lead reviews of trade partners' energy isolation safety plans
  • Lead meetings and coordinate field activities for electrical energization and de-engagements, ensuring high-risk activities are controlled
  • Review documentation and conduct audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA-70E, and internal policies
  • Lead MOP meetings and oversee equipment inspections, energization, and commissioning activities
  • Participate in High-Risk Activity planning meetings and establish an Energy Isolation Permit process
  • Ensure qualifications, training, and PPE of personnel are verified and that energy isolation and LOTO plans are established
