About The Position

We are working with a General Contractor delivering a major 350,000 sq. ft. data center development in the South Bend area and are looking to appoint an experienced Energy Marshal to join the project team. This is a critical site-based role responsible for managing and overseeing energy isolation, energization and electrical safety procedures throughout construction, startup and commissioning. Recent data center or mission-critical construction experience is essential.

Requirements

  • Recent data center or mission-critical construction experience is essential
  • Previous Energy Marshal, Electrical Safety, Commissioning or similar experience
  • Strong understanding of LOTO and hazardous energy control
  • Experience supporting energization and commissioning of complex electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction and site safety procedures
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E and OSHA electrical safety requirements
  • Ability to review switching procedures, MOPs and energy isolation plans
  • Strong communication skills and confidence coordinating multiple contractors and project stakeholders
  • Ability to work full-time on site in the South Bend area

Responsibilities

  • Managing and enforcing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures across the project
  • Coordinating energy isolation and energization activities
  • Reviewing and approving switching procedures, energization plans and Methods of Procedure
  • Maintaining energy isolation records, permits and tracking documentation
  • Verifying systems are safely isolated before work begins
  • Coordinating electrical shutdowns, startups and power transitions
  • Supporting commissioning and system energization activities
  • Conducting field audits and ensuring compliance with energy control procedures
  • Coordinating closely with electrical contractors, commissioning teams, Superintendents and Project Managers
  • Ensuring compliance with site safety procedures, OSHA requirements and NFPA 70E
  • Communicating changes in system status and energization activities across the wider project team
  • Identifying risks associated with energized systems and driving corrective action where required
