About The Position

ISO New England is the independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England’s ongoing transition to clean energy. ISO New England’s Internal Market Monitoring (IMM) group safeguards the competitiveness and integrity of the wholesale electricity markets. We work to protect consumers and market participants by mitigating uncompetitive behavior, identifying market design issues, monitoring participant conduct, and assessing overall market performance. Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in economics, engineering, financial analysis, data science, and law. As an IMM analyst, you will support the implementation of market power mitigation rules, ensuring that energy market prices reflect competitive conditions. You will gain unique insights into the capital and operating costs of a wide range of generation technologies—from traditional fossil fuel units to emerging clean‑energy resources such as battery storage. In this role, you will engage with project owners and market participants, conduct production cost and financial analyses, evaluate energy and capacity market offers, and monitor participant behavior for compliance. You will also help assess the effectiveness of mitigation rules and contribute to market reports and analytical tools that enhance situational awareness and market oversight.
