Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Environmental, Architectural, or a related discipline. Must be ABET accredited or equivalent).
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in engineering, building systems, energy efficiency, or a closely related field aligned with the specified degree disciplines.
  • Foundational understanding of commercial and industrial building systems, including HVAC, hydronic, and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in energy efficiency, building performance analysis, or sustainable design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to draw insights from data and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in data collection and reporting.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple tasks and projects.
  • A collaborative and personable approach with the ability to work well in both independent and team environments.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
  • Experience with customer service and outreach, with the ability to engage professionally and effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • As this position requires travel to client sites, the candidate must be able to reliably commute to and from assigned client locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced understanding of building systems, energy technologies, and their applications within commercial and industrial settings.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), LEED accreditation, or other relevant industry credentials.
  • Experience with Texas utility incentive programs and energy rebate application processes.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling tools, auditing software, or building automation systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and system schematics.
  • Prior experience supporting or leading energy audits or decarbonization initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of applicable energy codes, standards, or sustainability guidelines (e.g., ASHRAE, Title 24, ENERGY STAR).
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Asana or Deltek Vantagepoint.

Responsibilities

  • Performing energy savings analyses and gathering on-site data from end-use customer facilities, including coordinating and installing data-logging equipment.
  • Site acquisition and customer outreach.
  • Evaluate and analyze the performance of building systems (HVAC, hydronic, and electrical) in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Conduct accurate on-site energy analyses to gather the necessary details for developing energy-saving recommendations and supporting rebate or incentive applications for end-use customers.
  • Install sub-metering devices on HVAC and process equipment and interpret the data to develop energy models.
  • Conduct outreach to new and existing clients to find project opportunities.
  • Manage time effectively across fieldwork and office-based tasks to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and design professionals to understand building characteristics and identify opportunities for energy optimization.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations through clear, well-organized reports and presentations.
  • Provide regular project updates and status reports to the program lead.
  • Travel to customer sites.
  • Perform other activities as requested related to energy conservation, reporting, and project support as needed.
