Join our team as an Energy Educator and become a trusted advisor who helps homeowners and businesses reduce energy costs, improve efficiency, and create more sustainable spaces. In this rewarding role, you'll work independently in the field directly with customers, conduct energy reviews, install energy-saving products, and educate families and business owners on practical ways to lower their utility bills. As an Energy Educator, you'll serve as the face of our energy efficiency programs out in your community, helping customers discover opportunities to save energy and money while improving comfort in their homes and businesses. The Energy Educator engages in discussions with the customer about their energy use and tips for reducing energy consumption. This field-based position includes travel to the homes, meeting with the customer, installing measures such as lightbulbs and thermostats, completing paperwork, and using a handheld tablet to input energy saving measures accurately, provide recommendations and interface with multiple databases and outlook interfaces.

Requirements

Be a minimum of 21 years of age
Valid Driver's License with clean driving record
Ability to travel locally in company vehicles
Physically able to bend, stoop, reach, and work in various home environments
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening

Nice To Haves

Related training and/or experience in maintenance, weatherization and/or energy efficiency principals and techniques preferred.
Customer service experience desired
Utilities, HVAC, residential construction, energy knowledge or relevant experience.
Building Science Principles Certification preferred, ability to obtain certification within 3-6 months, training will be provided
Background in weatherization, energy efficiency, sustainability, or related fields
Strong communication and customer service skills
Comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities
Ability to explain technical concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand way
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently while also thriving as part of a team
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional Saturdays
Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, and other technology tools

Responsibilities

Install energy savings products such as programmable thermostats, LED Light bulbs, power saving energy strips, water heater pipe insulation, water saving products, based on customer needs.
The assessment and direct installation of products will be conducted with the goal of increasing customer energy efficiency.
Be able to recommend other utility programs for the customer to participate in.
Install select energy-efficient products and devices during customer visits
Educate customers on simple low-cost and no-cost energy-saving actions
Evaluate building features such as insulation levels, thermostat types, HVAC efficiency, and overall energy performance
Create personalized action plans that help customers achieve long-term energy savings
Connect customers with additional utility programs, rebates, and social service resources
