About The Position

The Energy Education Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive energy education and conservation services to low-income clients, staff, and the general public, supporting our agency's mission. This role involves direct client interaction, home assessments, program coordination (including the refrigerator replacement program), and community outreach.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience or related education in energy conservation methods, techniques, and applicable codes/regulations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to speak confidently in large group settings.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations, technical procedures, and building codes.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with low-income, disabled, and minority populations.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word; basic knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Highly motivated to work independently while dedicated to working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in the field, including ladders and hand tools.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain a good driving record, and provide proof of insurance for personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and deliver in-home comprehensive energy education to program applicants.
  • Perform home assessments, collect photos, and document education, weatherization, and health/safety concerns.
  • Install essential materials, including LED light bulbs, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide alarms.
  • Adjust water heater temperatures and replace furnace filters.
  • Actively represent the Agency at community outreach events and build partnerships.
  • Coordinate the Refrigerator Replacement Program: Act as the primary contact with private sector contractors, process all necessary paperwork and documentation, and submit purchase orders.
  • Schedule field visits for Energy Auditors, Inspectors, and Educators.
  • Perform secondary client intake tasks (e.g., income verification, landlord permission).
  • Perform accurate data entry into multiple systems/databases.
