About The Position

Northern Wasco County PUD is seeking an Energy Data Analyst I to join its Power Resources team. This is a hands-on technical role combining complex SQL, Python, relational databases, ETL/data pipelines, and business intelligence with energy supply and power market analytics. You’ll develop and maintain the databases, software, automated pipelines, integrations, dashboards, and reporting solutions that support critical Power Resources data and decision-making. You'll also work with large time-series datasets involving electric load and resources, power market analytics, energy settlements, reconciliation, and operational reporting. Previous electric utility or energy industry experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong technical data analytics experience from other industries are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and data models.
Develop and maintain relational databases, including schemas, tables, functions, and views.
Design, build, schedule, and maintain ETL processes and around-the-clock automated data pipelines.
Troubleshoot data quality, availability, integration, and performance issues.
Develop and maintain software, APIs, integrations, and reporting tools supporting critical Power Resources data.
Analyze electric load and resource data across hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and annual time periods.
Provide power market analytics and monitoring to support operations, planning, and decision-making.
Organize, validate, and analyze data used for energy settlements with counterparties and reconciliation reporting.
Create dashboards, visualizations, KPI reports, and recurring and ad-hoc reporting.
Perform statistical modeling and analysis of structured and unstructured datasets to identify trends and meaningful insights.
Work with large time-series datasets collected from internal and external sources.
Partner with end users to understand business needs, document technical requirements, and develop effective data and reporting solutions.
Present analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Participate in cross-functional initiatives focused on improving systems, workflows, controls, and reporting.
Provide cross-training and backup support for other Power Resources analytics functions.
Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required to support emergency restoration activities, critical operational needs, or special projects.
