About The Position

This intern position is to support the continued growth of the Sargent & Lundy Consulting group, particularly in renewable energy, battery energy storage, dispatchable gas generation, and utility planning / advisory practice areas. This position will give you the opportunity to collaborate with members of the Consulting Business Group and expand your academic background in Engineering. You will support project teams with due diligence of power generation projects, power system planning projects, and feasibility studies. This includes owner's engineering to support development and execution of utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects. You will track and evaluate project activities and progress, and associated data. You will also prepare technical reports and other Consulting deliverables, including conceptual designs and specifications, and provide technical support to clients. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of Consulting proposals, marketing materials, technical presentations, and white papers.

Requirements

  • Pursuing either a Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least six semesters or equivalent quarters completed at an accredited university.
  • Experience and/or coursework in AC power systems, renewable energy, battery energy storage, or in the power industry with basic understanding of power generation, substation, and transmission in the U.S. Bulk Electric System.
  • Minimum overall GPA of at least 3.2.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word, with high attention to detail.

  • Related internship or co-op experiences.
  • Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.
  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.
