The OEMS Intern supports Ithaca College’s progress toward reducing carbon emissions and meeting its sustainability commitments. Assignments vary according to the student’s and department’s needs. Recent interns have collected data for the AASHE STARS report, gathered annual carbon-footprint data and entered it into a web portal, explored carbon accounting principles and their applicability to IC, and planned monthly themed events. Work is generally self-paced, with a specific goal and timeframe agreed upon by the intern and supervisor. Interns are expected to work approximately 10 hours per week, including a regular review meeting with the Director of OEMS. Upon hire, the intern must provide their academic schedule for planning purposes. Ithaca College’s student employment program offers experiential learning intended to help students develop transferable skills and apply classroom knowledge in professional settings. Applicants are advised to attach a resume and cover letter. Screening begins immediately. Employment is contingent upon completing the I-9 and employment eligibility requirements and presenting original, unexpired, authorized identification documents.
