About The Position

The Energetic Materials Lead is responsible for providing work direction to staff in the production of powders, oversight of inventory, and ongoing job/project management to ensure production has materials needed to better prepare them for on time completion in order to meet customer and company needs.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; at least 2 years of related experience required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a driver’s license to operate company vehicles upon hire.
  • Must have ability to lead in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office application and ability to learn and become proficient in our internal computer systems and applications.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a driver’s license in order to drive company vehicles, upon hire.
  • Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
  • Function Specific RCRA Training upon hire.
  • Ability to work with other employees as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in support of end-result/goal.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.
  • General background in automated manufacturing and prior experience in an explosives manufacturing setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes leadership role for all powder production as well as provides oversight and communication to Energetic Materials staff and production to maintain proper inventory levels to meet production needs.
  • Assists in areas of providing employee direction, training and safety.
  • Understands, follows, and enforces company policies and procedures governing safety standards and work rules for all employees.
  • Operates equipment as needed.
  • Ensures a neat and organized work area per company housekeeping policy.
  • Monitors work flow to ensure powders are completed on time and down-time is minimized, and maintains an equal distribution of work.
  • Identifies waste in area of responsibility and works to eliminate.
  • Responsible for some hazardous waste management functions. Performs physical waste activities such as labeling and ensuring waste is handled properly under their area of responsibility.
  • Evaluates effective methods of production and implements improvements through the product team.
  • Drives company vehicles as required.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned.
