About The Position

The Salisbury University School of Nursing invites applications for an Endowed Professorship in Adult Health Nursing with expertise in gerontology. This distinguished faculty position offers an opportunity for a dynamic educator-scholar to contribute to excellence in nursing education, advance scholarship, and prepare the next generation of nurse leaders. The successful candidate will: Provide leadership and dedication to the delivery of education relative to the practice of geriatric nursing in the School of Nursing and the communities served. Participate in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of adult health nursing curricula (didactic and clinical). Contribute to undergraduate and graduate nursing education, including classroom, clinical, and experiential learning environments. Teach undergraduate nursing students in hospital and outpatient clinical settings in adult health. Advise and evaluate students in clinical settings, including conducting site visits to preceptor locations. Support graduate nursing education through capstone practicums and/or DNP projects, facilitating students’ transition into professional and leadership roles. Develop and implement innovative curricula that prepare students for the evolving challenges of contemporary nursing practice. Build and maintain collaborative, interdisciplinary relationships within the school, college, university, and broader community. Maintain an active program of scholarship. Participate in faculty governance and contribute to the academic mission of the institution. Provide service to the school, university, and the nursing profession. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Eligibility for licensure or current license to practice in Maryland or a compact state.
  • Advanced certification in adult health, gerontology, nursing education, or a related specialty.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact adult/gerontology nursing journals.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • National recognition for leadership and sustained contributions to nursing, such as being a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) or holding equivalent national honorific distinctions.
  • Prior experience teaching nursing students in academic or clinical settings.
  • Clinical expertise in chronic disease management, dementia care, or palliative care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation in teaching, curriculum development, and simulation.
  • Experience working with interprofessional teams to improve health outcomes in aging populations.
