About The Position

The Endoscopy Tech is responsible for providing support services to Anesthesiologists, CRNAs/AAs, Fellows, and GI/Endoscopy Suite Physicians, Nursing staff, and other care providers in the provision of patient care before, during, and after GI procedures. This role involves maintaining Anesthesia and Endoscopic equipment/accessories, supplies, and inventory, as well as the care, handling, and reprocessing of endoscopic equipment/accessories. The technician will also be responsible for the set up, turnover, and breakdown of the procedure room, and assisting with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in Endoscopy. Additionally, they will provide technical assistance to physicians and nursing staff during procedures as directed, within their scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years experience in a health care related role i.e. nursing assistant or PCA; MA; Anesthesia Tech required.
  • BLS
  • Computer experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in public contact skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and display initiative.
  • Demonstrated dependability, ability to accept direction and interact with others as a team member essential.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Completion of the SGNA Associates Program by end of first year.
  • Completion of SGNA Advanced Associates program within 18 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support every 2 years or CPR checkoff yearly.
  • Maintain Certification if Obtained.
  • Annual competencies must be met as set by department.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree with emphasis on biology and human anatomy.
  • Experience with high-level disinfection/sterile processing of supplies/equipment and infection control practices.
  • Experience providing anesthesia support in an OR/Procedural setting is highly desirable.
  • Certification (Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor: CFER; or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor: CER) preferred within 2 years of hire.
