About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician serves as a member of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (“Center”) team, responding to patient needs, preparing and maintaining resources (e.g., equipment, instruments, supplies), and providing safe, quality health care services and/or assistance for non-surgical endoscopy procedures in accordance with level of experience, education, policies/procedures/protocols, and standards. This role involves performing clinical care activities, ensuring patient safety, maintaining procedural room suites, adhering to high-level disinfecting standards for endoscopes, sterilizing equipment, performing quality testing, and assisting with documentation. The technician will also participate in quality improvement processes and may serve as a resource, role model, or mentor.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED
At least two (2) years endoscopy or ambulatory surgery experience
Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in medical assisting or surgical technology
Endoscopy technician program certification
Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor certification

Responsibilities

Serves as a member of the Ambulatory Surgery Center team.
Responds to patient needs.
Prepares and maintains resources such as equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Provides safe, quality health care services and/or assistance for non-surgical endoscopy procedures.
Performs clinical care activities (direct or indirect) for patients within the scope of practice laws and training received.
Cares for patients safely by assisting in clinical care services or engaging in administrative activities that enhance or improve coordination, preparation, and flow of the care experience.
Assists in patient intake, transport, placement of monitoring devices, and sample collection/preparation.
Establishes and maintains a safe and clean procedural room suite and sterile field.
Adheres to high-level disinfecting standards for reprocessing endoscopes and follows manufacturer’s guidelines.
Sterilizes equipment after procedures and ensures equipment is maintained in ready working order.
Performs quality testing and assists and/or ensures documentation and detailed records are kept and hand-off reports are accurate, concise, and pertinent.
Distributes information regarding equipment or instruments at in-service/training sessions.
Performs essential duties and techniques appropriate to role/function/procedure.
Participates in quality improvement processes and continuous surveillance, rounding, or monitoring for safety.
May serve as a resource (lead), role model, and/or mentor.
