About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician III performs competent inspection and reprocessing of all reusable department supplies, instruments, and equipment in accordance with organization policy and procedures. The Endoscopy Technician III demonstrates clinical excellence and knowledge of all standards of practice and guidelines for reprocessing in the department and ensures that all reusable supplies, instruments, and equipment are processed, tracked, and stored in accordance with organization policy and procedure. The Endoscopy Technician III provides expert care to patients undergoing department procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed and appropriately credentialed physician or Registered Nurse. The Endoscopy Technician III provides clinical support to the Physician and/or Registered Nurse during all phases of care, ensuring that safe, effective, and timely interventions are taking place during procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)
  • CFER Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor – Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) (required)
  • One years' experience as an Endoscopy Technician II (required)
  • Knowledge of infection control principles.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation as required.
  • Ability and willingness to float throughout markets as directed.
  • Monitor patient conditions during treatment.
  • Inform medical professionals regarding patient conditions and care.
  • Inform supervisory of supply, instrument, and equipment concerns.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic sciences, such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology, asepsis, sterile techniques and operating room techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Has mastered all essential job functions of an Endo technician I and II, such as supply, instrument, and equipment management, as well as basic patient care.
  • Manages all supplies, instruments, and equipment with the ability to do minor troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for disseminating scope reprocessing performance improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for precepting new hires.
  • Participates in scope culture process as needed.
  • Expert in specialty endoscopic procedures, i.e. Ablation, Dissection, ultrasound, and lithotripsy.
  • Serves as a resource to internal and external Endoscopy Customers.
  • Works closely with providers and supervisors.
  • Acts as a resource/mentor to staff and assists with the training of new personnel.
  • Takes inventory, orders, re-stocks supplies and transports equipment as needed.
  • Maintains procedure logbooks and documents.
