About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician (ET), under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, supports nurses, physicians, and other personnel in the direct and indirect care of patients and their families in the endoscopy unit. The role includes preparing and caring for instruments, scopes, and other equipment; assisting with procedures; and supporting unit operations, including inventory, infection control records, and daily scheduling.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
Completion of the SGNA GI Tech Specialist Educational Program and/or graduation from an approved course for Surgical Technicians required.
A minimum of one year of experience in Endoscopy required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of employment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient technology and PC skills.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and remain calm and professional in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
Prepare, provide, and care for instruments, scopes, and other equipment.
Obtain specimens and maintain a sterile field where applicable.
Assist physicians and nurses during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Assist the manager with supply inventory, infection control logs and other data, and scheduling and preparation of daily endoscopy schedules.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Work effectively and collaboratively with coworkers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
Use strong organizational and time-management skills effectively.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
Use technology and PC skills proficiently.
Exercise independent judgment and remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
