About The Position

Endoscopy Technicians (Endo Techs) interact with patients, prepare the room and the equipment, provide support to physicians and nurses while the procedure is underway, handle specimens collected, and sterilize equipment. Works under the supervision of the circulating Registered Nurse and/or Charge Nurse of the unit. Must be a patient advocate.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
On the job training provided.
Sterile conscious required.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

Nice To Haves

Certificates in medical assisting or surgical technology are preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the physicians with procedures in the endoscopy suite.
Provide correct instrumentation and supplies during the procedure.
Utilize aseptic technique and ensure a safe environment for the patient.
Follow hospital policies and procedures.
Utilize time management skills to facilitate the schedule.
Routinely attend departmental meetings and hospital forums.
Routinely participate in department projects to continuously improve the department and/or organization.
Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
Complete mandatory department and hospital education.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Serve as sitters as needed, following the successful completion of designated sitter education and training provided.
Perform other essential duties as assigned.
