About The Position

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Kingsland is seeking a motivated Endoscopy RN to join our team. We have 4 OR rooms and 2 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Ortho, Podiatry, Pain, Gastro, GYN, General, Ophthalmology, Plastic. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with Saturday GI only cases being voluntary. NO CALL is required, and most holidays are off.

Requirements

Must be a motivated Endoscopy RN.
Must be available Monday-Friday, with schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of day.
Must be available for some early mornings and later evenings.
Specialized knowledge, experience and training is required for endoscope manipulation under the direction of the endoscopist.
Must demonstrate ability to understand the unique needs of each age group of the patient population.
Must follow OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
Must use good body mechanics.
Must remain calm and function as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
Must follow employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
Must be focused on excellent customer service.
Must have the ability to multi-task.
Must have the ability to show flexibility in assignments.
Must maintain scrupulous infection control standards.

Responsibilities

Plans, executes, and evaluates the nursing care given to patients in the Endoscopy nursing role.
Provides patient care within the prevailing state standards of practice and according to the policies of the facility.
Communicates appropriate information to other team members.
Helps maintain equipment, supplies, and general cleanliness of the unit.
May have additional responsibilities designated by the manager, which may include but are not limited to providing patient care in other peri-operative departments, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement projects.
Adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for Endoscopy nursing care according to accepted standards.
Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge of Endoscopy procedures and techniques.
Provides multi-dimensional care for assigned patients, including patient care in the pre-operative holding area, care in the Endoscopy suite, and care for the patient in the PACU.
Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in endoscopic procedures.
Demonstrates ability to understand the unique needs of each age group of the patient population.
Prepares patients, equipment and room for Endoscopy procedures.
Assists physicians with Endoscopy procedures per the SGNA guidelines.
Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for the care of facility assets.
Assesses the patient’s physiological and psychological needs.
Administers conscious sedation to patients that meet criteria under the direction of the attending physician while adhering to conscious sedation policies and monitors the patient to provide a safe environment during the Endoscopy procedure.
Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
Uses good body mechanics.
Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
Informs Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
