About The Position

Sentara Health is currently hiring for an RN to work at Sentara Norfolk General on the Endoscopy Unit. This position involves comprehensive patient care across the continuum—pre-operative assessment, intra-procedure assistance, and post-procedure recovery—for a variety of outpatient and inpatient procedures. The Endoscopy RN plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care for patients undergoing procedures in pulmonary, gastroenterology, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialties.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or compact license)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; endoscopy, critical care, or procedural experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and preparations for endoscopic procedures
• Provide safe and effective support during procedures, including sedation monitoring and sterile technique
• Deliver post-procedure care, monitoring recovery and ensuring patient readiness for discharge or transfer
• Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal outcomes
• Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled (6–8 call shifts/month, including at least one weekend)
