Requirements

  • Current practical nursing license in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and teach Joint Commission infection control policies, procedures, and safety rules for nursing staff.
  • Incident/accident tracking in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Perform employee health nursing duties such as: conducting TB screenings, reviewing laboratory results, administering immunizations, performing fit testing, pre-employment drug screening and follows-up on incident reports.
  • Participate in the employee evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of nursing assistants performance to the leadership.
  • Implement the restorative nursing program and oversee and evaluate restorative aides' performance.
  • Monitors and ensures provisional training and certifications for CPR for nurses and CNAs.
  • Perform quality assurance for AED equipment and eye wash stations.
  • Plan, implement, direct and evaluate the education program, prepare course content, provide leaders with an annual schedule, and maintain records of classes, attendance, and clinical performance of each nursing assistant.
  • Performs all functions to monitor, track, and prevent blood borne pathogens exposure, TB and other communicable disease control programs.
  • Tracks and tends UTIs, urinary catheter days, culture repo up on TB and other exposures.
