About The Position

The Endoscopy RN Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the endoscopy area. This includes overseeing procedure scheduling, staff scheduling and management, inventory control, human resources, staff credentialing, preventive maintenance and safety, quality assurance/quality improvement, and risk management. The role requires a strong understanding of nursing standards, department policies, and regulatory guidelines. The supervisor will also be involved in employee management, including education, health records, evaluations, and HR issues.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of endoscopy experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Current State RN license.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • PALS preferred.
  • ASPAN membership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day internal flow of patient schedules and staffing assignments/schedules.
  • Serve as backup to endoscopy RN, endoscopy tech, and scope washer.
  • Maintain adherence to operating policy/procedure manuals.
  • Participate in weekly scheduled meetings with administration and/or managers.
  • Respond to patient surveys and manage damage control.
  • Directly report to the Lab Tech position.
  • Demonstrate current, comprehensive professional knowledge and skills in conformance with recognized nursing standards and department policies, including the Patient Bill of Rights and AAAHC regulations, Standards for Nursing Care and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Consult with physician and other health care team members in planning care and establishing desired outcomes.
  • Oversee ordering of supplies.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs/needs.
  • Practice within federal, state, and nurse practice guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance and risk management (generator, pharmacy review, radiology, State Inspections, Infection Control reports, and incident reports).
  • Manage QA program (QA checklists/audits, Peer Review, quality improvement, quality assurance, employee competency).
  • Coordinate and be accountable for yearly inspections (life safety, pharmacy, radiology, biohazard, etc.).
  • Act as backup coordinator for Quarterly Board Meetings as needed.
  • Manage employee education and risk management.
  • Maintain employee health records and keep files up to date.
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings.
  • Communicate weekly employee updates.
  • Conduct employee evaluations.
  • Address employee HR issues.
