About The Position

This is a per diem Registered Nurse position in an Endoscopy unit. The role involves performing comprehensive patient assessments, developing and implementing care plans, and providing direct patient care. The nurse will manage hemodynamically compromised patients, administer medications, and assist with procedures for both ASC and In-Patient populations. A significant part of the role includes preparing and maintaining endoscopy equipment, including troubleshooting complex machinery like endoscopes, processors, and light sources. Accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is essential, including procedure details, specimen handling, and medication administration.

Requirements

  • Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse in New York State
  • Critical Care experience required
  • BCLS/ACLS/PALS required

Nice To Haves

  • Endoscopy experience preferred
  • PACU experience preferred
  • Bachelors preferred
  • Basic Arrhythmia course preferred
  • Conscious Sedation Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and re-assess as per policy.
  • Formulate, prioritize and document nursing diagnosis consistent with the assessment data.
  • Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the patient’s age.
  • Respond to critical situations in a fast paced, busy environment.
  • Manage the care of hemodynamically compromised patients.
  • Revise a plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan for daily effectiveness.
  • Possess procedural department knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
  • Perform treatments and provide services according to scope of practice.
  • Assist with procedures for ASC and In-Patient population.
  • Assemble and prepare equipment and supplies utilized in the endoscopy suite.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain complex equipment like endoscopes, processors, and light sources.
  • Accurately record procedure details, specimen handling, and medication administration in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
