About The Position

Our eight-campus healthcare district has 613 beds and offers comprehensive health services across a broad continuum of care. The Endoscopy reprocessing Technician supports endoscopic procedures by preparing equipment, ensuring proper cleaning, high-level disinfection, and maintenance of endoscopes and related equipment. This role ensures patient safety, efficient workflow, and compliance with infection prevention and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of endoscopic equipment and reprocessing practices
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of infection prevention standards
Nice To Haves
- GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification
- CRCST or CBSPD certification
- Experience in GI/Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, or healthcare setting
Responsibilities
- Performs pre-cleaning, leak testing, manual cleaning, and high-level disinfection per manufacturer IFUs.
- Operates Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AERs).
- Ensures proper drying, storage, and handling of scopes.
- Documents all reprocessing activities accurately.
- Inspects equipment for functionality and report issues.
- Maintains inventory and restocks supplies.
- Tracks scopes and ensures availability.
- Follows infection control standards and proper PPE use.
- Adheres to OSHA, CDC, and facility policies.
- Maintains survey readiness (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
- Completes procedure and reprocessing documentation.
- Participates in audits and quality assurance activities.
- Communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, SPD, and support departments.
- Assists with patient transport and room turnover as needed.
- Participates in meetings, training, and process improvement.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
