Endodontist Diagnose and treat various conditions that affect the tooth pulp as well as the nerves and tissue in and around the tooth root. Perform non-surgical root canal treatments, endodontic surgery, and apicoectomies. Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by th department, company and State and Federal agencies. Maintain proper, detailed and accurate dental records. Travels between clinics to work, as needed. Willingness to be on-call, as scheduled, by the Dental Director/Administrative Director (AD). Willingness to assist Clinic Manager/AD in supervising the dental staff and assuring that clinic is compliant with State and Federal guidelines. Meet productivity goals, as set by the Arkansas Children's Hospital organization and assist the AD, and work with dental staff to accomplish that goal. Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff and administration. Perform other tasks, as directed by the Dental Director/AD, as needed to meet clinic or organization goals. Supervise Dental Assistants with whom he/she works. Understand the organization's commitment to provide high quality patient care. Promote a patient-centered environment. Reviewing patients' medical history and discussing their symptoms and concerns. Utilizing dental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause of patients' oral pain and discomfort. Formulating suitable treatment plans based on the diagnosed dental condition. Performing non-surgical root canal treatment to treat damaged or infected tooth pulp. Performing endodontic surgery to clean canals that contain calcium deposits, assist in making accurate diagnoses, and treat damaged root surfaces or surrounding bone. Performing apicoectomies to treat persistent inflammation or infection occurring in the bony area around the end of the tooth. Maintaining teeth that have previously undergone root canal procedures. Replanting teeth that have been knocked out of patients' mouths. Completing a comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and progress notes on each patient. Examine and diagnose and treat dental conditions to provide optimum care to patients. Consult with the patient/parent/guardian and advise them of dental status and required treatment. Educate patients regarding oral conditions, provide treatment options and explain to the patient/parent/guardian the risks, benefits and alternatives of each option. Treat dental conditions for patients of all ages, and if unable to provide a particular service, to a patient, provide the patient with the appropriate specialty referral. Board certified/qualified Periodontists are exempted from treating adult patients. Other duties as assigned.
