About The Position

Endo Technician is a member of the Endoscopy Team who assists the Physician, RN and Anesthetist with the preparation, intra-op procedure functions, and post-procedure cleaning. Assists in preparing the procedure room prior to the patient entering the room. Shares responsibility with Circulating RN Scribe for procedure equipment acquirement. Makes sure scope is hooked up and functioning adequately. Presents the scope and accessories to the physician as needed. Assists with Specimen Collection: Obtaining, Labeling, Transporting and Verifying. Transports used Scopes to the Processing Room. Cleans Rooms between cases with correct Aseptic Technique. Cross train as a Scope Washer. Transport patients if needed. Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager, Charge RN, Physician, and or Administrator. Ability to work at other locations and overtime as needed Must be open to cross training and learning other areas as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical school training and certification as a “surgical technician”
  • Six months of on-the-job training and experience in a hospital or outpatient surgery endoscopy room suite
  • BLS certified
  • Communicates effectively with patients, family members, staff and physicians
  • Must possess compassion and empathy with patients
  • Must have the ability to perform duties with little to no supervision
  • Must have the ability to follow direction from Nurse Manager, Physician or Administrator
  • The ability to follow Physician’s orders with relative ease and proficiency
  • Must present professionally, be cooperative and pleasant along with good people skills
  • Works well with others
