About The Position

The Business Development Manager, Life Sciences is responsible for driving growth and expanding HID's presence within the Life Sciences market across North America, with a primary focus on customers and opportunities located in the Eastern United States. This individual contributor role focuses on engaging directly with end-user customers to identify opportunities, develop strategic relationships, and promote HID’s Physical Access Control Solutions (PACS) in highly regulated environments. The role requires a consultative sales approach, strong industry knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex customer organizations. Success is measured through revenue growth, pipeline development, customer adoption, and long-term relationship building within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and research organizations. Requirements

  • Must reside within the Eastern U.S. region to effectively support customers and business activities across the Life Sciences market.
  • Minimum 5 years of business development, sales, or account management experience within physical access control, electronic security, or related technology industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience selling directly to end-user organizations and managing complex sales cycles.
  • Strong understanding of the Life Sciences industry, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and research environments.
  • Knowledge of customer buying processes, operational challenges, and decision-making structures within Life Sciences organizations.
  • Proficient understanding of Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), authentication technologies, and security solutions.
  • Experience developing and presenting solution-based value propositions to executive and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools, pipeline management, forecasting, and sales reporting processes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout North America (60%+).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience selling HID solutions or similar physical access control technologies.
  • Knowledge of consultant-driven security specification processes and industry standards.
  • Experience collaborating with channel partners, system integrators, and security consultants.
  • Familiarity with HID Global’s product portfolio, go-to-market strategy, and sales ecosystem.
  • Established network of contacts within the Life Sciences security and facilities management community.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing business development strategies to identify and secure new opportunities within the Life Sciences market segment.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key decision-makers, including security, IT, operations, and executive leadership stakeholders.
  • Managing the full sales cycle from prospecting and opportunity development through proposal, negotiation, and closure.
  • Positioning and promoting HID Physical Access Control Solutions, including mobile credential, authentication, and security technologies.
  • Delivering customer presentations, demonstrations, training, and consultative guidance regarding HID solutions and best practices.
  • Maintaining accurate sales forecasts, pipeline activity, and performance reporting within company systems.
  • Monitoring industry trends, competitive activities, and customer requirements to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Representing HID at industry conferences, customer events, and trade shows.
  • Conducting market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, target accounts, and untapped market opportunities across Life Sciences organizations.
  • Driving market expansion initiatives by developing strategic account plans and targeting high-value opportunities.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to customers by aligning HID solutions with business objectives, operational needs, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Channel Sales, and Customer Support teams to ensure successful customer outcomes.
  • Providing market intelligence and customer feedback to support product development and strategic planning.
  • Maintaining expertise in physical access control technologies, authentication solutions, mobile credentials, and industry best practices.
  • Supporting consultants, system integrators, and industry influencers involved in security system specification and deployment.
  • Ensuring all sales activities comply with applicable regulations, customer requirements, and company policies.
