About The Position

Milliken & Company is a global manufacturing leader focused on materials science. The Encapsys subsidiary operates a world-class encapsulation plant in Portage, Wisconsin, specializing in fragrance, phase change, and growth technologies. This is a competitively paid co-op position for students in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering programs, offering a special benefits package including a housing stipend and paid company holidays. Co-ops contribute significantly to the technical workforce, working on projects with high responsibility that impact the company's bottom line. They will engage in both collaborative and independent projects under the guidance of engineer/scientist project leaders and assigned mentors.

Requirements

  • Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. or M.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Junior or Senior status in a Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering program
  • Self-motivated and driven for project completion
  • Work independently
  • Apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve problems and make improvements
  • Capable of operating in a flexible and dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Interact effectively with customers, management and production personnel
  • Work safely around manufacturing equipment
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Responsibilities

  • Involvement in the day-to-day operations of a world-class encapsulation plant as a process engineer
  • Participation in project work, daily duties, production meetings, and production-scale trials
  • Producing written summary reports and presentations
  • Working 40-50 hours per week, occasionally working some late days, nights, and/or weekends
