About The Position
The Emergency Medical Technician assesses and provides basic management of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician. The EMT assists with patient care according to individual patient needs and within the scope of practice. The role also helps maintain a safe environment and works under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse. Paradise Valley Hospital is a 291-bed acute care hospital in National City and a member of Prime Healthcare. Its services include emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiac catheterization, acute rehabilitation, behavioral health, and other community health programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience (required for new hires effective April 2014).
- Basic EMT training or emergency room experience.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter, if required by the facility.
- Current PALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter, if required by the facility.
- State-certified or state-licensed EMT credential from the certifying agency/entity, if required by the facility.
