About The Position

The SkillBridge EMT - Pompano, Florida position is part of the DOD SkillBridge program, offering active-duty U.S. Military members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience in the medical response industry through training and internships during the final six months of their active-duty obligated service. This fellowship will run for up to 180 days. The role involves responding to emergency and non-emergency requests for medical assistance, delivering high-quality care, treatment, and customer service to patients. EMTs will assess patients, determine necessary care, and utilize appropriate medical techniques and equipment. Responsibilities include documenting patient information, maintaining a safe and clean environment, operating an ambulance, and collaborating with other healthcare and public safety personnel. The position also includes participating in community programs to enhance the company's image.

Requirements

  • Current Active-Duty Service Member
  • Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications
  • Available to participate 90-days.
  • Obtain approval from your unit commander and agree that participation in SkillBridge can be terminated at any time by the Service if mission requirements dictate.
  • Work remotely in the continental US
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • State EMT License (as applicable)
  • State Driver’s License
  • BLS, NREMT
  • Driving record compliant with company policy
  • Pass Physical Agility Test
  • Some work experience, preferably healthcare

Responsibilities

  • Provide an assessment of patients, determine necessary care and deliver emergency services by utilizing appropriate medical techniques and equipment.
  • Document patient information, condition and treatment while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Take pride in providing a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients.
  • Use appropriate EMT skills to provide care including communications, medical equipment, cleaning procedures, office equipment and tools.
  • Operate an ambulance in conjunction with applicable company safety policies, and traffic laws related to the operation of emergency medical response vehicles.
  • Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow EMTs.
  • Participate in community programs to maintain AMR image and establish strong community relations.
