This is a Part Time Position. The role involves rendering basic life support procedures to patients in a variety of settings consistent with state and local operating protocols. The position requires the ability to work a variety of shift lengths, including 12-48 hour shifts, on-call shifts, and standby/special events of varying hours. Responsibilities include providing accurate oral reports, assisting in extricating trapped victims, and transporting sick and injured persons to appropriate healthcare facilities. The role demands good judgment, calmness in high-stress situations, and the ability to work in environments with loud noises and flashing lights. Key duties involve lifting and moving patients and stretchers safely, performing airway interventions, vital signs, blood glucose measurement, patient-specific treatments, monitoring, and interventions such as CPR, defibrillation, medication administration, and mechanical ventilation as per protocols. The EMT will observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions, direct and coordinate patient care with other agency personnel, and drive ambulances safely. Communication with physicians and medical personnel via radio or telephone is essential, as is the completion of all reports legibly and accurately. Daily chores, including vehicle inspection, must be completed. All duties are to be performed in a safe, courteous, confidential, and professional manner, prioritizing patient well-being. The role also involves mentoring and training fellow staff and maintaining response readiness. The EMT must use safety and PPE equipment as required and perform other assigned duties.
