About The Position

This is a Summer Hiring Event for EMT/ER Techs at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The event will feature speed interviews with hiring managers and opportunities to connect with the Talent Acquisition team. The focus is on candidates interested in Full Time Night Shift and Limited Full Time Day Shift opportunities. The event aims to provide a fast-track opportunity for career growth within the hospital. Positions available include Patient Care Technicians and Multi Skilled Technicians. The event is by appointment only and requires attendees to bring 6 printed resumes.

Requirements

  • Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); Paramedic, or a military corpsman; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), which must be maintained active during employment.
  • Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: currently be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); if enrolled, have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN.
  • Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
  • HS EQ: High School Diploma or GED
  • BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
  • Must bring 6 printed resumes.
  • Must have an appointment before attending.
  • Must include current resume and complete the on-line application.
  • All individuals providing care to vulnerable populations are required to undergo background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks supportive to the delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting.
  • Take vital signs, monitor intake and output, perform glucose checks, and foley care.
  • Ensure patient safety.
  • Assist patients in participating in therapy sessions by preparing them for rehabilitation activities and offering encouragement.
  • Collaborate with nurses and therapists to report changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Support the overall rehabilitation plan of care.
  • Watch cardiac monitors for all patients on the unit and notify the nurse if a rhythm changes (for Multi-Skilled Technicians).
  • Answer patients’ call lights, complete consultation calls, manage the unit phone, and assist in paperwork for the shift (for Multi-Skilled Technicians).
