About The Position

Mets Baseball Camps is looking for an Assistant Site Director who will serve as the EMT/Nurse Intern for our summer youth camps. This role is based in the tri-state area (Long Island/Brooklyn and New Jersey/Connecticut). The ideal candidate is energetic, positive, and passionate about inspiring youth to make good choices and be accountable, all while ensuring they have a great time. We provide equipment, training, and curriculum, and the intern will provide leadership to create a wonderful learning experience for campers, fostering a love for the game, new friendships, improved skills, and an appreciation for personal accountability. The position is open for ages 4 through 13.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children ages 4-13
  • Experience coaching and/or playing baseball/softball at a high school level or higher
  • CPR/AED and First-Aid certified
  • Interested in gaining unique experience in the healthcare field
  • Able to connect with children both one-on-one and in a group setting
  • Leads by example with strong character, integrity, and a positive attitude
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Be prepared to make a 9 week commitment Monday-Friday for approximately eight hours per day
  • Be prepared to travel to each site with reliable transportation of your own
  • Be able to pass a comprehensive background screening

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe camp environment for all staff, campers, and parents
  • Administer first-aid properly as needed to campers and staff, and manage inventory of first aid supplies
  • Manage medications for campers with life-threatening allergies and other medical needs (ex. EpiPens) and ensure that each camp coach is aware of their campers who require extra attention
  • Communicate to parents and headquarters regarding injuries, illnesses, and incidents that occur at camp
  • Maintain detailed health records of campers
  • Work proactively with all camp staff to ensure that a preemptive approach is taken, in order to minimize injury and risk
  • Work with coaches and other staff members to help resolve camper conflicts and to create a positive and friendly environment for everyone involved with the camp
  • Assist with the production and organization of essential camp reports including attendance, employee timekeeping, and customer service-related records
  • Conduct health checks and provide day-to-day medical care
