About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for performing patient triage, standard tests, procedures, medication administration, and patient care, under the direction of a provider, within a clinical setting.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Current Certification as an Emergency Medicine Technician-Intermediate
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS certification required
• Requires prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
• Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator and other office equipment.
• Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
• Requires an uninhibited driver’s license to accommodate travel to off-site meetings and workgroup sessions.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and occasionally work irregular hours.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of one (1) year of relevant Occupational Medicine experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations and make decisions without supervision
• Triage patients and assist in determining medical problems, and medications through provider orders
• Performs pre-physician exams, collaborate with providers and other medical staff when examining or treating patients, giving injections, removing sutures, and applying splints and dressings
• Take direction and initiate actions that will allow the assumption of cross-functional team actions to ensure seamless patient care
• Assist providers with patient care or communicate urgent needs to increase level of patient care
• Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, and analyze and prepare for testing, and log results
• Document patient care and procedures utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records system
• Perform other duties as assigned
