About The Position

As our EMT, you will perform essential general patient care, meticulously following established clinic workflows to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery within an outpatient setting. Every day you will complete comprehensive patient intake duties, including obtaining vital signs, verifying allergies and medications, and documenting reasons for visits. You'll also collect and prepare specimens, administer ordered medications and vaccines, clean and sterilize instruments, ensure exam room readiness, and meticulously complete safety checklists, escalating any non-routine issues promptly. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, efficiency, and safety, adeptly managing all intake processes and supporting clinical operations. Your ability to meticulously follow protocols, maintain a clean and stocked environment, and proactively address concerns will be crucial for exceptional patient experiences.

Requirements

  • High School GED or High School Graduate
  • Driver's License: TX, upon hire
  • Emergency Medical Technician: TX, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days

Responsibilities

  • Perform essential general patient care, meticulously following established clinic workflows to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery within an outpatient setting.
  • Complete comprehensive patient intake duties, including obtaining vital signs, verifying allergies and medications, and documenting reasons for visits.
  • Collect and prepare specimens, administer ordered medications and vaccines, clean and sterilize instruments, ensure exam room readiness, and meticulously complete safety checklists, escalating any non-routine issues promptly.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, efficiency, and safety, adeptly managing all intake processes and supporting clinical operations.
  • Meticulously follow protocols, maintain a clean and stocked environment, and proactively address concerns.
  • Ensure personal, crew, patient and bystanders safety by performing scene size up, recognizing that emergency scenes are dynamic events and prioritizing safety.
  • Provide patient care functions according to protocol, procedure and written directives to level of certification.
  • Perform a patient assessment throughout a call on every patient encountered, providing appropriate treatment and transportation decisions.
  • Attend and participate in 75% of annual departmental training and completion of annual Skills Competency Fair to maintain and improve skill level and knowledge base.
  • Verify patient identification prior to transport, contact receiving facility prior to delivery along with providing a patient care report, and provide safe delivery to or from the hospital and aircraft.
  • Transfer the patient to the appropriate facility and health care provider giving complete/accurate verbal patient care report.
  • Assure geographic knowledge of service area (communities, towns, cities and counties), utilizing appropriate map/GPS reading skills.
  • Neatly and accurately complete written and electrical Patient Care Reports (ePCR), leaving a copy of the transported patient's report in every facility - ED.
  • Assist patient with special concerns that will need to be brought to hospital personnel's attention (i.e. geriatric patient who may require additional home care).
