The Emergency Medical Technician demonstrates critical thinking capabilities in working autonomously and in collaboration with other health care providers in the delivery of care to critically ill patients in diverse and non-traditional settings. This role involves responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, assessing patients' conditions, providing basic life support and first aid, stabilizing patients during transport, and operating emergency vehicles safely. The EMT will also communicate with other emergency services, maintain equipment, document care provided, and participate in ongoing training. The Idaho Base: Community Health Emergency Services (CHEMS) focuses on continued or follow-up care to prevent unnecessary readmissions or 911 calls within the community, acting as healthcare navigators and providing transitional care after hospital stays.
