About The Position

The EMT Certification Course is a 12-week program designed to prepare individuals for a career in Emergency Medical Services. This program involves completing a state-approved education program, passing cognitive and practical exams, and obtaining a license to practice in New York State. Empress EMS, the largest provider of EMS in the Hudson Valley Region, is recruiting for its next "Earn to Learn" Academy program. Upon successful completion and licensure, graduates will work on the frontlines of Empress EMS, providing emergency treatment. Empress EMS offers various career paths, including logistics, community paramedic division, Quality Improvement, special operations division, and the emergency communications center. EMTs can also pursue further education through the Empress EMS paramedic scholarship program.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Satisfactorily complete all aspects of the pre-employment process, including drug screening, background check, and physical agility test (CPAT).
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a state-approved education program in Emergency Medical Technology.
  • Pass a cognitive and practical exam.
  • Obtain a license to practice in the State of New York.
  • Work on the frontlines of Empress EMS providing emergency treatment to the sick and injured upon licensure.
  • Attend ride-alongs with a licensed EMT and/or Paramedic.
