Bilingual - EMT-Basic (EMT-B) – Plasma Center
About The Position
BioLife Plasma Services is seeking an EMT-Basic to join their team as a Medical Support Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational matters and the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations or a manufacturing environment is expected. You will also support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives at the center level.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B), Advanced (EMT-A), Intermediate (EMT-I), or Paramedic (EMT-P), Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN), or Registered Nurse (RN).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs, including assisting with standing orders and donor transport to emergency facilities.
- Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety and eligibility.
- Support employee Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
- Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
