About The Position

This part-time position oversees the functioning of instructional labs within the Emergency Medical Services program. The Lab Assistant will support the primary instructor with psychomotor instruction, ensuring adherence to National Registry guidelines for instructor/student ratios. This role involves developing instructional materials, ensuring course goals are met, and providing feedback on student progress. The position also includes managing lab resources, maintaining safety and order, and assisting with lab setup and breakdown.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major study in fire technology or medical-related field or education equivalency.
  • Four (4) years of field experience in emergency medical services working in either a fire department or hospital or ambulance service.
  • Current nationally registered EMT or AEMT.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the instruction of labs within the Emergency Medical Services program under the direction of the instructor.
  • Collaborates with faculty to develop instructional materials and lesson plans.
  • Works with the instructor to ensure course goals and objectives are met and student learning needs are addressed.
  • Oversees students engaged in the application of practical skills and the safe and proper use of equipment and tools.
  • Provides feedback to the instructor regarding student progress and accomplishments, and documents student activities.
  • Assists with the set-up and breakdown of workstations, equipment, and classrooms.
  • Ensures the facility has the required resources and materials for class and lab exercises.
  • Maintains safety and general order in the classroom, lab, and storage areas.
  • Complies with all system, college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
