About The Position

Monroe Ambulance is seeking passionate individuals to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) through their EMT Academy Course. This program provides the necessary training and skills for a career in EMS. The company aims to foster a new culture of EMS in the region. An EMT-Basic responds to emergency calls, provides immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and transports patients to medical facilities or for interfacility transfers. EMTs must respond quickly and safely, observing traffic laws.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess a valid NYS driver's license.
  • Must attend all classes, be on time for class and shift.
  • Must maintain an average of 70% or above throughout the course.
  • Must pass NYS EMT-B practical and written exam.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move 125 lbs without assistance and 250 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all classes and be on time for class and shift.
  • Maintain an average of 70% or above throughout the course.
  • Pass the NYS EMT-B practical and written exam.
  • Respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured.
  • Transport patients to a medical facility or for interfacility transfers.
  • Use the most expeditious route to the location, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
  • Observe traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation.
