About The Position

Coordinates planning and training functions in support of EMS. This role involves maintaining training records, managing departmental trainings, responding to inquiries, and organizing various administrative and logistical aspects of the EMS training program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in office support functions, to include direct customer contact, keyboard skills, and broad knowledge of office equipment
  • Requires a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word is required.
  • Requires a valid driver license.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, copier, telephone, facsimile machine, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to read Standard English, as well as basic technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc.
  • Ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of spelling, grammar, punctuation, diction, and style.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Standard English.
  • Ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of instructions in written and oral form; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
  • Ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, use decimals and determine percentages.
  • Ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions.
  • Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with frequent deadlines or peak workloads.
  • Avoids violent behavior and any other type of behavior that could threaten the safety of other employees or the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and reviews EMS training records and certifications to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
  • Enters data into various software and database programs; ensures that data is kept up-to-date.
  • Prepares various correspondence, spreadsheets, minutes, requisitions and other documents pursuant to the established needs of the department.
  • Plans, manages, and coordinates departmental trainings and offerings to include certifications and remedial training.
  • Schedules trainings from lecturers and instructors to better equip the department with the most up to date information.
  • Responds to telephone, email, written, and in-person inquiries; providing answers and/or information requiring knowledge of departmental training policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of departmental projects, activities, and processes.
  • Assists in maintaining department filing system; to include all records, forms, reports and other files.
  • Arranges the new-hire orientations process for new employees.
  • Maintains schedule for EMS Training Facility and Medical Skills Lab.
  • Organizes and maintains medical library and teaching facility for the department.
  • Performs related duties as required.
