The EMS Instructor, under the direct supervision of the EMS Unit Supervisor/EMS Coordinator, provides education and training to all disciplines of emergency care providers. This role takes a leadership position in course development through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, clinical, and online instruction. The instructor demonstrates attributes of a professional educator, including being self-motivated, an effective communicator, organized, knowledgeable, prepared, confident, respectful, and a student advocate. They are responsible for developing EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, and/or AHA courses using guidelines from state and national agencies. The position requires applying adult learning principles, setting clear goals, monitoring student progress, providing mentorship to novice instructors, and instructing in American Heart Association classes. Accurate documentation and submission of class records are essential. The role involves teaching at various times and locations, including the main campus, mobile simulation lab, or on-site at students' employment, and requires exceptional customer service.
