The EMS Instructor, under the direct supervision of the EMS Unit Supervisor/EMS Coordinator, provides education and training to all disciplines of emergency care providers. This role takes a leadership position in course development through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, clinical, and online instruction. The instructor demonstrates attributes of a professional educator, including being self-motivated, an effective communicator, organized, knowledgeable, prepared, confident, respectful, and a student advocate. They are responsible for developing EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, and/or AHA courses using guidelines from state and national agencies. The instructor must apply the principles of Adult Learning, set clear goals, monitor student progress, provide effective feedback, and mentor novice instructors. They are also responsible for documenting and submitting class records and teaching in various formats and locations based on student demand. Exceptional customer service and effective interaction with students, customers, and Mercy Partners are essential.
