About The Position

Responsible for developing and instructing Driver Training Academy’s, EMT-Basic Training Academy’s, EMT Advanced Training Academy’s, EMT-Paramedic Training Academy’s and EMT-Paramedic Ventilator & Critical Care Training Academy’s. This role also involves developing, scheduling, monitoring, and ensuring high-quality field and clinical precepting programs for Academy students. The EMS Educator must demonstrate complete knowledge and compliance with company policies and procedures, ensure the security of company property and information, and adhere to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation and Infection Control policies. The position requires maintaining security and privacy of confidential company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations. The EMS Educator must act with safety in mind, report to assigned shifts on time, and set an example of professionalism and leadership. Assures all company goals, objectives, and procedures are followed daily and performs other duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • All EMT requirements.
  • Currently licensed EMT licensed, but Paramedic is preferred.
  • If certified as an EMT, must be working under a certified Paramedic.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to mentor and supervise staff.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
  • Solid verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficient in ambulance patient care field documentation.
  • Education and/or experience in adult education and training.
  • Excellent administrative skills and be very detailed orientated.
  • Strong project management, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently on a broad variety of projects.
  • Punctual and able to meet deadlines as assigned.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience emergency medical services training experience.
  • Must have certification as EMT and Paramedic Instructor in appropriate states. (Must Obtain All Within One Year of Hire)
  • Must have instructor certification for CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, BTLS, CEVO (Must Obtain All Within One Year of Hire)

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in education or emergency medical services preferred.

  • Developing, scheduling, monitoring and ensuring high quality clinical site precepting program for Academy students with hospital staff.
  • Demonstrating complete knowledge, understanding and compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring security of buildings, vehicles, equipment, medications and all other company property.
  • Ensuring the security of all company computer systems by adhering to security procedures and utilizing appropriate passwords policies.
  • Adhering to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation when dealing with patient contacts.
  • Being familiar with and practicing the Infection Control policies and procedures of the company.
  • Accepting responsibility for recertification as a Paramedic and for other required license’s and certifications as required by company, local, regional, and state policies, regulations or laws.
  • Maintaining security and privacy of all confidential and proprietary company information at all times in accordance with company policy.
  • Always maintaining security and privacy of all company and patient information in accordance HIPPA and all other local, state and federal regulations.
  • Acting at all times with his/her personal safety in mind, as well as the safety of others.
  • Reporting to assigned shifts on time, properly groomed in uniform and on time unless the proper notification has been made.
  • Remaining on duty and in proper uniform until properly relieved.
  • Setting an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow.
  • Assuring all company goals, objectives and procedures are followed on a daily basis.
  • Performing other duties as directed by management.
