About The Position

Making Opportunity Count (MOC) is dedicated to empowering families to achieve economic security by removing barriers and creating opportunities. MOC offers a range of services, including childcare, education, workforce development, nutrition, health, and community and housing support, all aimed at alleviating poverty. The Employment Specialist role is crucial in delivering the services of the MOC Supported Employment Programs, focusing on assisting clients in securing and maintaining employment that aligns with their vocational aspirations.

Requirements

Education and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in workforce training & development, social services, or business.
Experience working with people with barriers to employment.
Experience providing employment services.
Knowledge of the work world.
The ability to work as an effective team player is essential.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

Engage clients and build relationships to facilitate competitive employment in settings that offer long-term, sustainable opportunities.
Collaborate with community providers to establish a consistent flow of referrals and resources for employment programs.
Represent MOC at community workforce events as needed.
Continuously assess clients' vocational functioning using background information and work experiences.
Conduct job development and job search activities to support the assigned caseload.
Provide individualized follow-along support to help clients maintain employment.
Offer education and support to clients as required.
Conduct outreach to clients who may disengage from services.
Develop an individual employment/education plan for each active caseload member.
Meet with individuals in the community as necessary.
Assist in the development of the SNAP Employment and Training (E&T) program.
