About The Position

The Employment Specialist facilitates successful job searches for clients in the Re-entry phase of treatment. This role involves teaching workshops on job seeking skills, interviewing skills, re-entry readiness, and other employment-related topics. The specialist collaborates with clients to develop resumes, cover letters, and thank you notes, providing support and counseling throughout the job search process and assisting with referrals to community resources as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment
  • CPR Certified within 30 days of employment
  • A valid California driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Drug and Alcohol Certification recognized by ADP
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates employment related workshops, groups, and classes.
  • Teaches interviewing skills, job search skills, re-entry readiness skills and works with clients on soft skills as necessary.
  • Assists clients in formulating various employment, vocational and educational documents.
  • Conducts assessments and information sessions with clients as they begin their job search to ensure a supportive and appropriate job search plan.
  • Supports clients based on their employment, vocational and education goals.
  • Provides counseling and support around all stages of the job seeking process and maintenance of employment.
  • Collaborates with treatment staff and CDCR personnel to ensure appropriateness of client services.
  • Connects clients to various community resources available in our community that support specific client needs.
  • Connects clients to transitional work or training programs when appropriate and available.
  • Ensures that employment opportunities are in line with program guidelines and support client’s recovery process and successful reintegration.
  • Attends community events that are relevant to employment/vocational opportunities.
  • Transports clients to various supportive events in our community.
  • Helps in the development and implementation of group curricula.
  • Maintains and builds relationships with clinical team, Corrections Department staff, and community-based organizations and businesses to expand supportive services.
  • Facilitates, plans and implements special workshops, activities and events.
  • Coordinates community passes for clients under California Department Correction and Rehabilitation supervision and other funding sources.
  • Maintains accurate records (group and individual sessions, employment status, income deposits) by entering documentation into various electronic systems in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT-360, to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
  • Attends weekly internal staff meetings, weekly meetings at residential/OP facilities, and additional meetings as necessary.
  • Develops, plans, and implements workshops and special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
