VA CARES Employment Specialist
About The Position
People Incorporated is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Virginia CARES Employment Specialist. The position will be stationed in Abingdon, Virginia. This position will serve the jurisdictions of City of Bristol, Virginia and the Virginia Counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Washington. The Employment Specialist will work within the communities to develop employer relationships and hiring opportunities for CARES participants. Will assist participants to develop job seeking and job retention skills. Also assists participants to gain self-sufficiency through employment.
Requirements
- Strong oral and written communication skills, to include speaking before groups.
- Knowledge of criminal justice system.
- Willing to travel locally in order to deliver services to participants.
- Willing to work within State Correctional Facilities.
Nice To Haves
- Associates Degree in a Human Services field of study.
- Two years experience working in Probation Department, Court Services Unit, or providing services to hard-to-serve clients.
