About The Position

The Employment Specialist will assist individuals with serious mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, and major depression, in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment. This role involves personalized support, job development, and collaboration with mental health treatment teams to help clients achieve their employment goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Previous experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, or working with individuals with mental health conditions is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients' employment interests, skills, and preferences.
  • Develop individualized employment plans in collaboration with clients and their mental health treatment teams.
  • Provide motivational support and build strong, trusting relationships with clients.
  • Assist clients in developing job search skills, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job application processes.
  • Conduct rapid job searches to match clients with suitable employment opportunities.
  • Facilitate introductions and job interviews with potential employers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create job opportunities for clients.
  • Educate employers about the benefits of hiring individuals with mental health conditions and provide information on workplace accommodations.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with employers to ensure successful job placements and address any concerns.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and support to clients to help them adapt to their work environment and meet job expectations.
  • Address any issues that arise in the workplace, working with employers to implement necessary accommodations.
  • Offer continuous support and encouragement to clients to maintain employment and pursue career advancement.
  • Collaborate closely with mental health treatment teams to ensure coordinated care and support for clients.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss clients' progress and adjust employment plans as needed.
  • Provide feedback to treatment teams on clients' employment-related achievements and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of clients' progress, employment activities, and support provided.
  • Prepare regular reports on employment outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with program standards and funding requirements.
