About The Position

This position assists individuals to reach employment goals and helps to maintain employment. Coordination with Mental Health Case Managers ensures individuals are connected to services needed to meet their goals. Guild is a Minnesota not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that empowers those living with mental illness and/or experiencing long-term homelessness by helping them find the tools they need to lead stable, fulfilling lives in communities of their choosing.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) employment principles, philosophies and methods or willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of employment related resources in the community.
  • Skills and interest in marketing in order to promote Guild employment services and clients to potential employers.
  • Knowledge of mental health, severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), and the needs of people with mental illness.
  • Promote an inclusive, diverse, culturally competent, and respectful environment.
  • Develop and maintain receptive, open, and approachable lines of communication with clients and staff, and provide a friendly environment for visitors.
  • Presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Work as a proactive and positive member of a team to deliver quality services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of organization, personnel information, and client data.
  • Use sound judgment and maintain healthy professional boundaries.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including composing, proofreading, and editing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities.
  • Proficiency with a variety of web-based software and databases, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must not be actively receiving services from Guild and must not have received services within the last two years.
  • Must possess a valid Class 'D' Driver’s License, own a reliable vehicle, maintain a satisfactory driving record, and carry automobile insurance in the employee’s name with necessary insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university
  • 2 years of full-time professional experience in rehabilitation services or a combination of residential and rehabilitation services to adults who have serious and persistent mental illness or other disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of service delivery to assist clients obtain and maintain employment of their choosing.
  • Provide services in an integrated manner as a part of an internal multi-disciplinary team consisting of coworkers and service professionals.
  • Use a strengths-based approach when serving clients by recognizing each person’s skills, experiences, and personal values that support employment.
  • Access employer related resources, job, and community resources.
  • Ensure coordination with services and supports needed to meet individual needs.
  • Market Guild Employment Services and clients to potential employers.
  • Develop and establish relationships with employers by conducting in person visits to learn about their business's hiring practices, hiring preferences, doing so over multiple visits.
  • Teach employment related skills such as job-seeking skills, on-the-job performance skills and work-related community skills such as time management, mobility, and money management, functional literacy skills, etc.
  • Act in a manner to assure client confidentiality and privacy that compiles with Guild policies and procedures.
