About The Position

The St. Francis Center (SFC) is seeking an Employment Specialist to work closely with individuals enrolled in their employment program. This role involves providing comprehensive services to address participants' immediate needs and assist them in planning for long-term self-sufficiency. The position is part-time and could potentially be combined with hours from another role to achieve full-time status and access a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field OR equivalent experience working with homeless and justice-involved populations.
  • One year of direct experience with people experiencing homelessness and/or justice-involved populations.
  • Case Management Experience and Training.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work constructively with a team.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Reliable transportation, Colorado-mandated automobile insurance, and good driving record required.
  • Must be able to work in a diverse setting with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial intake and assessments with new program participants to determine strengths, risks, and needs by utilizing evidence-based tools.
  • Enrolls program participants at existing SFC sites, such as the Day Center and the Stone Creek Non-Congregate shelter, where appropriate.
  • Meets with program participants to identify skills, needs, and barriers to employment and develop plans to gain and maintain meaningful employment.
  • Assists program participants with resume and cover letter development.
  • Develop short-term and long-term vocational and self-sufficiency goals with each program participant and monitor progress.
  • Cultivates job opportunities and refers qualified candidates to current job openings.
  • Provides comprehensive case management to address the needs of all program participants, including health, housing, and employment.
  • Assists program participants with gaining access to public benefits and resources.
  • Enters and maintains accurate and timely case notes and records in HMIS and the program databases.
  • Prepares and submits any required statistical and billing information.
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with community and government agencies.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and embraces diversity.
  • Contributes to program planning and development.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
