The Employment Specialist carries out Supported Employment (SE) services by helping members obtain and sustain employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery. This role involves engaging members, assessing their vocational functioning, and providing job development and search assistance. The specialist will offer individualized follow-along services to help consumers maintain employment and may provide education and support to employers, including negotiating job accommodations. Outreach services are provided to members who may disengage from SE services, and engagement may be maintained even without a vocational focus. The role requires regular coordination with treatment team members and participation in drawing up and updating individual employment plans. A significant portion of time is spent in the community to engage and support members, family members, and employers. The specialist must attend required trainings and meetings, adhere to specific protocols, and coordinate referrals to employment specialty providers.
