About The Position

March of Dimes Canada is seeking a full-time contract Employment Placement Specialist for the Waterloo region. This role is part of the Skills Development and Employment team, which focuses on helping people with disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment by matching them with employers. The team also provides support with assessments, rehabilitation, and child and youth programs. The Employment Placement Specialist will develop relationships with employers, manage communication, document employer needs, match clients with opportunities, negotiate employment terms and wage subsidies, develop training plans, and provide follow-up support to ensure successful outcomes for both employers and clients.

Requirements

1 to 3 years of experience in job development, employer outreach and marketing, and customer relationship management; reputable experience in recruitment and screening
Sensitivity to issues/barriers that people with disabilities experience
Well-developed time management, problem-solving, organizational and teamwork skills
Effective negotiation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication, sales and customer service skills
In-depth knowledge of the current labour market and labour market trends
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work well under pressure
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe software
Ability to document, maintain records and assist in reports
Driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

Develop relationships with employers in a variety of industries, operating as contact point with companies and their contacts initiating job orders
Maintain ongoing effective communication with employers, ensuring all employer records are complete and kept up to date
Document employer priority needs and requirements to assist the ES team and clients in preparing for appropriate job matches
Work with the MODC ES team to match clients with employment opportunities secured through the job development process, and to ensure the placement is supported to the extent needed
Negotiate employment opportunities with employers and negotiate wage subsidy as/when needed
Develop an on-the-job training plan for the client if required
Provide follow-up support to employers, regular check-ins and provide the necessary support, including accommodation support, to ensure desired outcomes for both employer and client
